Form I-693 update on Gonorrhea
Hello everyone, I tried to post a couple times but my session timed out so I'll try to be concise on the subject.

As you probably know by now, CDC updated the medical examination on August 1st including gonorrhea as a communicable disease of public health significance and everyone adjusting status should be screened for gonorrhea (along with TB and syphilis) and the results should be in their Form I-693. I read here in this forum a couple weeks ago that some applicants were being told at the interview of this change and having to go back to their panel physicians to have this test done.

I called USCIS and I was told that I could go back to the panel physician where I went for my examination and do the gonorrhea test and have my doctor sign another Form I-693. The officer told me on the phone that I had 3 options afterwards:

1) Mail the sealed envelope to where my application is being processed (NBC in Missouri or Chicago lockbox);
2) Go to the Field office where the interview will take place and hand it over to them or,
3) Bring the sealed envelope to the interview.

I had scheduled an Infopass to the Detroit field office but when I showed up with my sealed envelope I was told by the representative that I should wait and bring it to the interview. He explained that my case hasn't been forwarded to them yet and if they keep my envelope and it gets lost en route by any chance, I'll have to go back and do it all over again. He said this is a safety measure to protect applicants and avoid further delays.

Whether the officer I spoke on the phone didn't have the accurate information or Detroit office doesn't usually accept documents of cases still with the NBC, I'd say it's better to hold on to your updated I-693 and bring it to the interview (or send it to NBC if you receive an RFE). Maybe other offices are different but this is my experience.

Did anyone have any problem regarding gonorrhea tests that were not included in their form I-693?

Good luck everyone!
