H1 Stamping at Ottawa
Working with a big IT Company for last 8+ yrs, GC is filed. Last H stamping was in India 5 yrs back (expired now). Chose Ottawa because of availability of dates and mostly positive experiences.
Canada PoE experience:
Officer: Why are you in Canada:
Me: Visiting
O: Have friend or family
Me: No (he kept looking confused), but here for visa stamping
O: Ohh okay so you will go back to US
Me: Yes
O: Do you have return tickets
Me: Yes for next Fri
O: So you are not here for 30 days (had filled 30 days on custom form)
Me: Will leave as soon as passport comes but just in case it gets delayed
O: Ok (puy entry stamp for Canada)
Had some concerns since working on internal project in presales for some time.
Also had submitted a DS160 with my original appointment, when changing appointment put in a new DS160 and forgot about old one. On day of interview, they could only see old DS160 in their system so they went with it - would advise to carry any old DS160 copied also.
Day of interview: Security check outside embassy. Had phones and car keys which they deposited in embassy for no charge and returned later - however space is limited, so no bags allowed.

Me: 8+ yrs
VO: Do you have dependents
Me: Yes, wife and kid
VO: If you wife on H1 or H4
Me; H4
VO: Will your wife file for her own H1 or H4 extension
Me: H4 extension with my renewal
Vo: Has your company filed for GC
Me: Yes
VO: Are you still with def (referring to an old client where I used to work with this company)
Me: No, that was while back, now work on internal project
VO: What do you do
Me: Do product demos, solutioning....
Vo: Is x your salary (looking from employee verification letter given by employer that I gave to him)
Me: Yes
VO: Passport is approved, should get update in 3-4 days
Me: Are you working the week of thanksgiving
VO: Yes working every day except Thu, should try to get as many passports out as possible next week

11/18 (Fri) early morning: Interview
11/21 (Mon) afternoon: Changed to issued with tracking number, should get passport on 11/22.
