Houston Interview on 12/08/2016 - Approved on the spot :)
Thanks to everyone who shared their AOS experiences on this site, they really helped me to prepare for my successful interview today. Here’s my own experience, I pray it helps others as well.

PD: 11/05/2015

Interview Date: 12/08/2016 at USCIS Houston Field Office

I am the Beneficiary, my husband is the Petitioner.

My interview was scheduled for 9.45am but we were called in around 11.15 a.m. The IO was a nice, polite lady. The interview started after she swore us in and it lasted for approximately 15 minutes.

Questions I was asked : How did I meet my husband, questions from my I-485 – my name, my address, my date of birth, my place of birth, date of last entry into the USA, place of last entry into the USA, my phone number and a few of the yes/no questions. I was also briefly asked about my previous residence (in England).

Question my husband was asked – Did he have any other children other than our son together?

Documents IO asked for – Our son’s birth certificate, our apartment lease contract and up to date I-693 (medical exam). I handed over originals and copies of the birth certificate and apartment lease contract.

The IO was very impressed and commented on how organised my documents were. I had incorporated a “Master-list” and tabs system that enabled me to quickly locate the documents that she requested. Upon learning that I had brought along my new medical exam report, she said that I was going to be her first case to be approved on the spot so far since all others that she had interviewed before me had failed to bring updated medical exam reports. Once she opened the sealed envelope and confirmed that the new gonorrhea test result had been included, she told me that I had been approved and would receive my card in two weeks.

Praise the Lord!!!

We were so happy; we thanked her and she proceeded to escort us out of the interview area. I checked my case status at about 1pm today and saw that my new card had been ordered. I also received a text message at 3.30pm today informing me that my case is now updated.

Note – The IO did not give me any paper or document after informing me that my case was approved, neither was my passport stamped. I did ask her if I would be given anything to show that I was approved but she said no and repeated that I would receive my card in two weeks.

Truly, God is good – all the time! This was a 13 month long journey that has ended in praise. And just in time for Christmas :)

I encourage all Houston 2015 AOS Filers still waiting for their interviews not to give up hope. Also, be super-organised (it certainly worked in my favor ) and please get your new medical exam done especially if it has been more than 1 year to avoid prolonging the AOS process. Congratulations in advance and Happy Holidays.

Thank you Lord.
