Houston interview approval at the spot!
Hi all, just want to share my interview experience I have learned so much from this forum and definitely want to give back! My PD is Dec 3rd, 2015, Houston office. Got EAD combo Feb 19th, 2016. Interview date Jan 12th, 2017 at 12pm. We arrived about 45 min before appointment and we didnt have a watch so couldn't keep track of time. Felt like we waited for 30-45 min, an officer (white male at his 40s) called my name and walked us into his office. He was not very talkative at the beginning but my husband started the conversation with a joke and it got better from there. We didn't swear any oath like the other interviewees did. He first asked for our ID, I handed over both our passports. Then he asked for the house documents we live in. I bought the house before we got married so my husband's name was not on the mortgage but he said he understood. Then he asked for our utility bills I gave him our energy bill and cable bill. Then he asked if there is anything we would like to show him. We handed over the photo album of our weddings (1 in China 1 in the US), then we gave him 2 albums of the professional photo shoot we took in China; then we gave him the pictures we took in Bora Bora for our honeymoon. He then asked if we plan on traveling in the next 2 months if so he needs to stamp on passport otherwise just wait for card to show up in mail for 3 weeks. We realized we got approved at that moment and he walked us out, passport ready in 5 min. My advise is to be natural about it and don't be afraid to chat and make small talks such as i laughed at my husband's passport photo, we talked about we just got an SUV preparing for having kids, and I believe all these helped. Good luck to everyone waiting for their AOS. This has been a long journey and thank you for this forum!
