Adjustment of Status Experience
Hi Everyone!

I would like to start off by saying that all of your stories have given me alot of knowledge into this entire process from beginning to end and I "Thank You" all for that. I decided to share my story in hopes that it will help someone like it helped me.

**FYI Process done without a Lawyer
**Priority DATE: December 3, 2015
**Current Resident of New Jersey
** Husband: US CITIZEN / ME: H1-B Visa Holder

My husband and I got married in October of 2015 and we filed the I-130 and I-145 in December of that same year. I received notice in December that it was received and then for some strange reason the I-485 was returned as rejected and I needed to follow the instructions to resend the form. I reviewed the form and realized that I checked the wrong box, so I corrected and resent the I-485 again in April 2016. I received another notice stating that they needed proof of my husband's citizenship, so I copied birth Certificate and Passport and sent to the office. on May 14, 2016, I received notice to go for biometrics screening which was scheduled for Jun 03, 2016. Now the painful wait begins. Finally in December 16, 2016 the status was updated on USCIS website to state that the case is scheduled for an interview on Jan 18, 2017.

So.. (01/18/17)
My husband and I arrived at the Immigration Field Office in Newark, NJ at 2 pm for our 2:30 pm appointment time. We were sent to the 14 floor and checked in at the window, and told to have a seat till they called our name. We awaited for approximately 45 mins to an hour before our name was called. We were greeted by a tall Asian woman and she asked us to follow her to her office. We both sat down and then she asked me to stand up and raise my right hand and swear to tell the truth. She then asked me the following questions:
- Your Full Name
- Address
- Date of Birth
- Husband's Full Name
- Are we still married and any kids
- Have you been convicted of a crime or drug activity?
- Any government assistance?

She then asked for one picture of us an proof of address (Car Insurance Cards). She also asked for all of my passports and wrote on all the visas I've ever possessed. I guess to make them NULL and VOID. She then asked me to look at the camera and she took my picture and fingerprints. She gave me back my passports and a letter and said that this is proof that you were interviewed today. I will continue to review your case and if I need anything else I will request it, if not you should receive your card within 15 days. All of this was less than 10 minutes!! She didn't ask my husband any questions and although I was prepared with all the documents the suggested to bring to the interview, she didn't ask to see anything. Not even our photo album.

Today I checked the status online and it said your case was approved and your approval notice will be mailed. AMEN!!

I hope this helps someone going through the process and feel free to ask any questions that you may have.

GOOD LUCK!
