Visa interview in Vancouver BC Jan 30
Had my visa interview yesterday (1/30, early morning interview) in Vancouver BC. Visa has been issued and is in the mail so I should be able to pick it up later today or tomorrow. I am from India on a h1-b. My assumption is I am low risk since this was my 4th h1-b ( last time I renewed in Vancouver as well.) I also have a us degree and work at well known technology company. I was asked fewer questions compared to the other applicants (how long have you worked for employer, which city, pay stub, and copy of approved i-140). I was informed after interview that visa has been approved. This morning (10 Am) the status updated from administrative processing to issued and I got the Canada post tracking number at 1 pm today (1/31).

My experience was essentially the same as last time I renewed in Vancouver a few years ago maybe a bit smoother. I also noticed a few things that might help you. There is no cell phone storage (apparently the storage is for us citizens only due to limited space). The Quiznos subs across the street charges 10 CAD to store your bag or cellphone. Also, while there is a photo booth inside the consulate, they will not let you enter the consulate without a recent photo. The person behind me had a photo which was older than 6 months so she was not allowed in.

Hope this information helps and good luck!
