H1 and H4 experience @ Chennai
Hello,

Posting our visa stamping experience:

Feb 6 - Biometrics

Feb 7 - Interview at the Chennai US Consulate

VO: Good Morning (very pleasant and cheerful)
Us: Good Morning

We handed our docs to him and he scanned the bar code on the passport and typed something on his computer.

VO: Oh you work for ZZZ. That is impressive! (smiles)
Husband: Yes, I have been with YYYY for the past six years and I work as a Manager

VO: That's nice. What is your annual salary?
Husband: answered

VO: What are your responsibilities at ZZZ?
Husband: answered

VO: Who is your end client?
Husband: answered

VO: Interesting! What do they do and what is the location?
Husband: answered

VO looked at me asked how long we've been married. We answered and it was our wedding anniversary the next day, so he wished us and asked us to enjoy the day as he said he is approving our visa.

Although I have my EAD and I am working, I wasn't asked any questions regarding that.

The whole interview took about 5 mins and he was very pleasant and cheerful. Even when we were standing in the line, we were able to listen to other interviews that were happening. Some were definitely asking a lot of questions, but they don't grill you. They don't have a strong US accent as well. We didn't really see a lot of rejections or 221Gs either except one or two. Like everyone says over here, have all the necessary documents and prepare really well. Mock interviews really help. We checked out few questions from this forum for that.

Feb 7 was our interview. We checked the status on 7th evening and it said "passport is with the consulate"

Feb 8 (evening) Status - Ready for pick up

Feb 10 Status - We went and collected our passports and took just five mins.

Although we were pretty nervous the whole of last week, the entire stamping experience was extremely smooth and we are thankful we can enjoy the rest of our vacation and go back to the US.

Good Luck to all of you!! :)
