H1/H4 visa interview at Hyderabad on 02/13
Consulate: Hyderabad
Finger printing: Feb 12 at 1 PM
Interview date: Feb 13 at 11 AM
Background:
Masters in US
7th year extension and third visa stamping (first in Canada, second in Mexico, now in India)
Approved I140
Wife was on H1 for 6 years and recently changed her status to H4 and got EAD.
Both of us are FTE for US employees.

Interview was at 11 AM and we were in line by 10 AM and were let in right away. We went through security check and went to a waiting area where they give you "know your rights" pamphlet. After few mins waiting went to a lime where they verify your finger printing and went to another line where they give you window number.

Interview:
Vo: Hello
Me: Hello. How are you doing today?
Vo: doing good. How are you?
Me: doing good. Thank.
Vo: How long have you been married mam(to my wife)
Wifey: 5 years
Vo: purpose of your visit
Me: going to work as a Sr. Software Eng. for xx company.
Vo: How long have you been working for xx company?
Me: 5 years
Vo: What is tour salary?
Me: xx USD per year
Vo: Highest education
Me: Masters in CS
Vo: is it in India or US
Me: US
Vo: Which university?
Me: xx university

He did not ask us any documents not even I797.

He was typing all along and then started writing something on the back of our passports where they put a sticker. He said not able to issue your visa right now. We need to do some research on our side probably will take an extra day. It was visible what he wrote and it said "PIMS". I hope it approves soon. I have 28 days left in my India trip.

Few observations:
There were lot of H1, F1 and B1/B2 visa applicants and most of the visas were approved. There were few 221g's issued for H1's and with all due respect to them they were really terrible. They did not answer basic questions and most of their answers seemed scripted and trained. At least they should improvise based on the question.

Bottom line I did not feel any difference in the way they were treating or questioning the visa applicants due to trump effect. As long as you are confident and answer them properly it should be a cake walk.
