Hi my fellow members,
I would like to share some information gotten from a dhs employee hence its third party information and i do not want to be scrutinized for it. I am not trying to bring fear because i am in the same situation, its just for information purpose.
Firstly, those of us who have not received our EAD need to stay abreast of immigration news. Alot will be changing on Friday when the revised Executive order is distributed to the different agencies. Deportation is for anyone who is in this country illegal. If you have overstayed you have broken one of the immigration law. The order gives agents more authority to deport illegal immigrants rather than backing up the courts. If you look at your I-797C, it states that you are not granted any immigration benefits or status. You can still be picked up by ICE and taken to one of the detention centers where they will run a background check which will take some time because the FBI has not completed your background check for USCIS in the first place. More raids are coming so be safe.
The processing dates that are on the website is an on average information for the centres and offices so you can have people before the processing dates stated without EAD or interviews. Once you have reach the 3 months for EAD and 6 months for interview, you should do a follow up and a service request or get your congress rep involved. The immigration process is going to be longer because additional screenings will be carried out so continue praying and have patience.
Also, a member had posted earlier that if you have a state id you will be alright because it shows that you are legal. This is not true for New York. For those in New York, you can get a type of state id without a ssn which is used to open bank accounts, receive some state benefits and as identification especially when stopped by the police. It does not show legality in the country and that is why the mayor has been trying to protect the information used to produced these cards. Each state is different so please read and get information for your state.
