Advance Parole
Hey guys, I just wanted to share my husbands story and get some advice...
He has applied for advance parole for the second time. He applied the first time at the beginning of last year. But, we chickened out, and he decided not to go after he was approved. With the scare of not knowing what is going to happen with DACA, we took the advice from our lawyer and applied again last month. We have already done a background check at the police station, and nothing at all came up on his record. However, I'm a nervous wreck because I'm afraid they won't let him come back home. Back in 2008, he was pulled over. Basically, because it was 2 am in a small town, where police have nothing better to do. He was taken to the police station, never put in a cell or handcuffed. But, because he was 16 years old and had no parents here, they had to call immigration. From there, they took him to Catholic Charities in Houston. He stayed there until they located his mom in Mexico. When he was taken back to Mexico, they explained to him that this wouldn't hinder his ability to become legal in the future. He was in MX for 2 weeks and then came back illegally. So, has anyone else had two entry's as a minor and still made it back with AP? Will they even see that at the border? Or, do they just see what's on the background check? When he got DACA we had to prove that he was only in MX for a short time. So, they obviously have on record that he went. I'm not sure why it didn't show up in the background check. Possibly because it was through Catholic Charities?
