Interview + Case was approved?
PD: 29th Sept. 2016

Interview Date: March 8th 2017

Office: Philadelphia, PA

Apt time: 1:15 pm

We entered the security-check line and the guard greeted us with a smile and said, “we looked good together as a couple” that made us happy and comfortable (we were formally dressed; I wore a Suit). Once we cleared the security-check we were asked to go to the 2nd floor.
As we got to the 2nd floor I checked in at the front desk and they asked us to wait at door no. 3. There were about 50 other people already in the room waiting at different other rooms. Around 1:20 pm we were called in and escorted by the IO to her room. We swore-in before we took the seat and she started off right away by taking our IDs and my passport.

She started with my wife and asked her these questions:

1. What’s your full name and DOB?
2. What’s the current address?
3. Did you have any other name? - to which my wife responded yes, and told her maiden name
4. Where were you born?
5. What are your parents’ names?
6. Confirmed about the joint-sponsor.
7. Confirmed phone number on file.

Then she switched to me and asked:

1. My full name and DOB
2. My parents’ name
3. My address and phone number
4. The visa on which I initially entered the country
5. My Social
6. Where I was born
7. If I was married before
8. Yes/No questions from the form

After the question and answers she asked another one, “So what joint documents do you have for me?” She stated all the ones she already had on file and she was expecting if I had anything new. The only new thing I had was a credit card letter stating my wife as an authorized user on my account. She already had the rest (leasing doc, bank statements, air tickets, a couple of photos from our wedding) I handed her some more pictures (about 80 arranged in order with month/year and details) and she picked one (reception photo) in addition to the ones on file. I also handed her my medical form to which she responded, “I think your medical is good” and I said, “it didn’t have the updated gonorrhea test and this one includes it”. I just wanted to be safe than sorry so I handed that out to her. Although, I forgot to give this year’s tax papers that we filed together (I feel so stupid).

Once we were done with that she went to make copies of our IDs and came back and concluded, “I think we are good, you should be hearing within a month”. The whole thing lasted less than 10 min. She was on point and didn’t waste any time. While we were getting ready to head out she made a comment on my wife’s purse as she escorted us out.

I feel stupid for asking this question, I checked my status on the USCIS app and it says, “Case was approved, we approved your Form I-485….” so does that mean the green card was approved or should I wait for another approval notice (I-130)? Pardon me for asking but I would appreciate if anyone could answer. The reason I ask is all throughout the process I never received text messages, it was just online and mail.

Thank you to all those who contribute to help others. This forum has been an immense help and I hope to return the favor. Please let me know if I could be of any help to anyone.

Thank you Jesus! Stay blessed people!
