Interview
So that day our appointment was at 1:15 and we arrived around 12:30. We go check in and we wait for our attorney. She arrives there around 1:10 and this lady just noticed that she had forgotten my file at her officer and brought someone else’s by accident. Thank God I had prepared myself and stayed up all night organizing all my documents placing tabs, making sure everything was correct. Finally around 2:30, an officer comes in the lobby and calls us. He was an elderly indian gentleman with a very thick accent and seemed to know my lawyer. As we were walking to his office they were casually talking and catching up in a way. As soon as we stepped in the office the whole vibe just abruptly changed. He asked us to raise our hand for the swearing in and then he asked us to sit down. He ask for our id’s and proceeded to ask me the basic yes and no questions have you ever committed a crime, been a terrorist etc. Right after that he tells me that he’ll take me back to the waiting room and he’ll call me in in ten minutes after he finishes questioning my wife. Man oh man, I swear I felt like I was about to have the runs lol. I’m in the waiting room cold and trembling uncontrollably. At that moment I just said a quick prayer and I instantly stopped shaking and just felt a calmness take over. At that moment I told myself “It’s all in the hands of God”. Those 10 min felt like 2 hours still. Finally he calls me back in the office. Then he asks the following questions: How did you meet; what’s the name of the friend that introduced you; when did you move in together; how much is the rent; what did you get your wife for her birthday; what did she give you; who drove to the interview; what kind of car is it; what did you have for breakfast; how many bedrooms in the apartment; where did you guys go out last time; what did you do on sunday; how many people were at the wedding from your side and her side; have you met your wife parent; when was the last time she talked to your mom; when was the last time you talked to her dad; how many tattoos does she have. Finally he asked if we brought anything to show proof of bona fide marriage and I just handed him the whole folder which had bank statement, utility bills, internet, car insurances, car title, Triple A and lease agreement. We also handed him the photo album in which he selected a few photos and made copies. He then says everything looks ok since our answers matched at about 95 but also says nothing is ever perfect but everything looks good. He says he will pass it on to the supervisors and we should her from them in a matter of weeks. My lawyer then stepped in and ask if they don’t approve it on the spot anymore and he said that they don’t because they’re a bit stricter nowadays but he also said that when his supervisors see that he evaluated a case they tend to act on it faster. That gave me great hopes. Finally we leave the place and as soon as we step out I exhale with a big relief. We get in the car and as soon as I sit down I got a notification on my phone that the case has been updated. I went online and saw New card being produced. My eyes got uncontrollably watery. At that moment it hit me. After 12 long years of not being able to see my mother, my grandma and all of my siblings, I will get the chance to go visit at last. God is so so Amazing. My faith kept me from going crazy so many times. I prayed and fasted throughout this journey and the Lord answered my prayers. Stay strong my people, never give up, everything happens for a reason. Peace, Love and Prosperity to you all.
