Successful re-entry with advance parole. 3/16/17
Hello all,

First, I'm grateful for finding this site which gave me peace of mind during the whole process. Therefore, I feel compelled to share my story to help others during this nerve racking experience.

My wife applied for advanced parole on Sept. 2016 and received approval in the mail 3/1/17. Unfortunately, the parole was only valid from 2/20/17 through 3/20/17. Considering the mail took 1 week to deliver we didn't have time to consider whether we wanted to take the risk of travelling or not. It was more the instinct of do it now or never.

My wife travelled to El Salvador on 3/8 and I followed on 3/13 with both of us returning on 3/16/17 to Houston International Airport. I was aware I was not going to be able to be with her during the interview process but wanted to be there for her as much as I was allowed.

On the way back we both went though the foreigners with visas lane. The immigration agent only asked what I did for a living and let me thought but asked my wife to step to the side. This is were our anxiety and nerves hit the rooftop but its what we were expecting. My wife was sent to another waiting room. On the other hand I was not allowed to wait around. Be aware they are not allowed to use their phone while in the waiting room, so don't panic if you don't hear from them for 30 to 45 minutes.

They didn't ask her any personal questions only if she was bringing any food items in her luggage. They kept the parole documents but stamped her passport. We immediately called our attorney and were told not to worry as the passport stamp was enough proof of legal entry into the country.

Overall, it was a pleasant process. I advise everyone to travelnow instead of waiting as things might change for the worst.

Thank you all.
