OCI in lieu of PIO Card - NY CGI Experience
Hi All,
I wanted to share my experiences with CKGS and NYCGI while applying for OCI in lieu of PIO Card.
Hope this post will help another person
The overall experiences was very smooth by God's abundant Grace.
My daughter's PIO was issued in Chicago consulate. But since we moved to another state, we have to apply for OCI in NY CGI
Below are the documents I submitted:
1. Original PIO Card
2. Original US Passport
3. Photos - In Envelope
4. Fees Receipt
5. OCI Registration Form
6. Document Checklist
7. Parental Authorization Form
8. Additional Particulars form
9. Father’s Passport Copy
10. Fathers I 94
11. Mother’s Passport Copy
12. Mother’s I 94
13. Affidavit for Change in Apperarance
14. Utility Bill - Original
15. Utility Bill – Copy
16. Copy of Applicant’s PIO Card
17. Copy of Applicant’s US Passport
The timelines:-
Feb 27, 8 PM - Dropped the application in FedEx Center
Mar 01, 2017 - Wednesday04:52 pm Application ‘Received’ by CKGS and 'Not Verified'.
Mar 03, 2017 - Friday02:15 pm Application Verification is ‘Complete’. Processing of your application will continue.
The Consulate may request for further documents over and above those already submitted as per the Document Checklist.
Mar 03, 2017 - Friday03:39 pm Application is ‘Under Process’ at CKGS.
Mar 03, 2017 - Friday04:46 pm Application is 'In Transit' to the Consulate.
Mar 06, 2017 - Monday09:26 am Application is 'Under Process' at Consulate for decision making.
Mar 15, 2017 - Wednesday01:46 pm Application 'Reviewed' by Consulate and ‘In Transit’ to CKGS Application Centre.
Mar 15, 2017 - Wednesday08:18 pm OCI Card ‘Received’ at the CKGS application centre and is at the ‘Sorting Facility’ where it is being processed for delivery.
Mar 16, 2017 03:54 pm OCI Card picked up by FedEx.
Your AWB Number is 785933160390
To track the ‘Progress of Your Shipment’, log onto the site of FedEx and enter your AWB Number.

Mar 18, 2017 10:30 AM :- Fedex delivered the packet containing the OCI Card, Cancelled PIO Card and Original US Passport !!!!
