Since 1998
I first arrived to the United States (Houston, Tx) via the Netherlands (where I was born) in August 1998. I am a citizen of both the UK and Poland through my parents. I was 13 and was initially on an I (media, father is a journalist)/H-4 dependent visa under my father's H1B which you can hold until the age of 21.

My parents received their Permanent Residency and Green Cards after I turned 21, which was very unfortunate for me for if I was under the age of 21 I would have automatically been eligible as well!

Fast forward to April 2016 (after I had been on an F1, F1-OPT, F1-OPTX, H1B, H1B extension) I was able to finally apply for adjustment of status (I-485) via an immediate relative (my father).

My most recent immigration saga timeline follows, and trust me I have been through many, I could write a book after 18 years of this...

I was down to the wire on my H1B and burst into tears at my desk when I received the notice that my application had been approved and that I would be receiving my Employment Authorization Document (EAD) soon. Not many people understood my plight and the immense stress, anxiety and depression that can come a long with this situation. My H1B was tied to the company I was working for and I felt very stuck with no place to go, talk about motivation killer...

I am still awaiting my interview and will definitely start my application for renewing my current EAD...hopefully it won't be too long!

Until this very day I'm not sure if it was/is all worth it. I am recently unemployed, but happily unemployed, because I am taking the time to finally figure out what I want to do with the rest of my life and I am in a somewhat comfortable/good position to do so!

Good luck, hope this is helpful info and I empathize with you all!
