04/12/17 Interview day

We were interviewed about 15mins tops but I feel like we talked about a lot. The IO was nice (not sure if Hispanic or Filipina; in her 50s?), I was nervous at first but I got at ease after she asked our names, address and yes/no questions. She asked (not in exact order, can’t remember anymore) where we met, why did it take long for us to get married, if my husband (USC) would like to visit my old country, if he eats our food and which one, why we held our wedding where we had it, if my family came. She looked at our 2 albums (random & wedding), about 200+ total photos. She only asked if that was my Mom in one photo, and she guessed right lol. I even brought our gift box for our wedding with the cards we got and copies of checks we received (as we asked for monetary gifts) but we didn’t reach that part anymore, maybe she saw enough already lol.

We gave her copies of our lease agreement, phone bills (with one month I printed the whole thing from online with our text logs because we text a lot; for that month’s bill is about 44 pages), health, dental, vision insurances, copy of our boarding passes when we travelled out of state in 2014. She also asked for his 2016 tax returns. I did my medical in December 2016 but I updated it in March with the gonorrhea testing. I gave it to her too.

She dismissed us, telling us to sit outside for a bit because she needs to check something in the system. We waited only 5 minutes, she called me back and told me our case was approved and gave me the approval letter and gave further instructions not to leave the country yet until I get my GC and when to remove the conditions.

04/17/17 Received approval letter for i-485 and i-130.

Still waiting on the GC.

P.S. My husband and I went in outfits as if we were going to a job interview. We saw others wearing sneakers, colorful leggings, wrinkled shirts which, just in my honest opinion a bit inappropriate. For me, I’d like to give a good impression on the IO because the decision for my admission to this country is in her hands. Although they can’t judge you based on that. Just saying :)

I suggest organizing everything in a clear book, I used sticky notes as divider that way when the IO asks for something you know where to go and quick. I saw other’s papers are all over their purses sticking out, needless to say wrinkled. But again, it’s just me, I wouldn’t present myself like that lol

Now just waiting for the GC. I’m wishing everyone the best and good luck! Thank you for the help in this forum! Patience is a virtue!
