H1 stamping, Ottawa
Thank you everyone for posting your all your experiences, it was really helpful for me so now I want to give back to the community here.

I went for stamping in Ottawa last week. I have a previous stamp for the same category from the embassy in my home country.

Reached embassy ~15 minutes before my appointment. They will store your cellphone/watch for you and also allowed ladies to bring in small purses. However, to avoid any possibility of complications I only brought my wallet and put all my documents in a plastic bag, and the security guy complimented me for making things easy. Figured it was good karma (:

Since many people have described the security procedures and document check (should be pretty standard across all embassies) I will just describe the interview itself. There were two consular officers on duty. One of them was in deep discussion with an applicant for >15 minutes (not sure why) so several of us were interviewed by the lady officer who was very friendly.

VO: Good morning, passport please
Me: Just the passport or everything? (at document check, they had stuck the LCA, I-797, and employer letter inside my passport)
VO: Everything please
VO: So what do you work as
Me: gave my job title and a brief description of duties

Then she looked at my HR's letter which stated my job title, salary, and why I was doing stamping in Canada. She also checked the LCA.

VO: Your previous visa stamp expired in 2015?
Me: That's right, I've had 797s since then.

Then she took my fingerprints again, did some typing, told me my visa was approved, and said it would be ready for collection in 3-4 business days.

I ended up collecting my passport from Canada Post two business days later in the afternoon.

It was a very efficient process (in and out within 30 minutes) and the questions were not adversarial at all. One guy received the Administrative Processing slip and was told it could be several weeks, but two others were approved as well.

Good luck everybody with your applications!
