N400 application Tips (Houston)
I am a proud US citizen now. I had my oath taken on 4/26/17 (Houston).

Tips:

- Houston does their Oath Ceremony every last Wednesday of the month.

- Get to the Oath Ceremony at least 30 minutes before the check-in time. Make sure to bring headphones, power bank, snacks/drinks, and cash. These things should be enough to keep you entertained for about 3 hours (or while waiting before the ceremony begins). It's nice to have you family/friends there who are willing to wait with you. :)

-Sit close to the Exit door so you can be one of the first one to get your certificate as soon as the ceremony is over! The earlier you get there... the faster you will leave.. and it will not be too crowded if you decide to take pictures after.

-Right after I had my oath taken, I went straight to Central Library (McKinney Houston) and applied for my passport (about $200). Do not forget to bring a blank check and your certificate of citizenship! This is a much better experience than falling in line after the oath at the ceremony location. You can get your photo taken at the library just in case you have no extra photos with you.

Would I have done anything different? The answer is YES!

1. When you get your photos taken for the N400 application and you think that you look really good there... make 3-4 copies of it. I highly recommend getting it done professionally. Two will be sent with the application and the other 2 will come in handy when you apply for your passport! This will save you a ha$$le from driving just to get your photo taken again!

2. When you send your application, you think that the passport photo you attached with your application will be the photo in the certificate? You're wrong! I have no idea where those photos have been used. The photo that they put in the certificate will be the photo that they will take from your FP appointment. So, make sure you look good when you show up for that appointment!

Good Luck to all!!!
