NYC timeline/interview experience
Hi Everyone,

Over the last 10 months this forum has been a place of comfort and consolation. My journey to permanent residency is finally coming to a happy end. I know many of you have waited much longer than me -- you must continue to be patient. I know, easier said than done. Stay positive!

Here is my timeline.

PD: July 15, 2016
BIO's taken: early August, 2016
EAD/AP approved: late September, 2016
Combo card received: early October, 2016
Interview notice: early April, 2017
Interview date: May 10, 2017
USCIS ordered greencard: May 10, 2017

The interview was at Federal Plaza. Our officer called us in on time. She was very friendly and in her late thirties. She got right to it and asked for our ID's and original documents (marriage cert, birth certs, sate ID's and passports). She asked how we met, our first date, to see pictures and if I wanted to add any new supporting evidence to our file. I added our newest lease, bank statements, joint 2016 tax returns, and new utility bills. She then went over all the questions on I-485. Our interview was very conversational, but you could tell she was very aware and would throw in questions about our life throughout. For example, my husband mentioned my parents, and the officer immediately asked, "and their names are?"... She did this kind of random questioning throughout the interview. At the end of the interview she announced she would recommend our case for approval and I should get my card in 2 weeks. At around 5:30pm yesterday, the same day as the interview, I got the email that my card was ordered.

I get the sense that an officer can tell pretty quickly whether or not your relationship is legitimate, so just be honest and be yourself.

Wishing everyone with pending cases the best of luck. Keep your heads up and stay positive.
