The end of a beginning
Time line: married usc. I'm black my husband is white. Field office Raleigh/Durham NC. Current status student on F1. I have been working without ead for more than two years (that was my biggest fear) but kept my student status.

Pd 1/26/17

GC 5/11/17 "card is been produced"
Total process 3.5months

I had my interview today. It was scheduled for 1:15. We were called in by an IO about mid-late sixties around 1:30pm. I think he's from somewhere around Singapore or Asian not too sure. He had a mean face initially but when we entered the room, I noticed that he didn't speak much English.

He asked us to swear to say the truth... We sat and he asked why my name is slightly different from my birth certificate. I said I use my baptimal name and that where I come from, people have multiple names and that I choose to use my current name. He then asked me my current status, I said student. He asked for my initial approval to F1 and I-20 because I came in as a B1. I gave both to him. He said you have been here for 10 years? I said yes. I told him the date I entered the u.s. He went and made copies because I told him those were originals. He came back and asked if we had pictures.

We gave him a ton and my husband started to tell him about our wedding. He asked if there was anything else we wanted to show him and my husband said what would he like to see that we had everything. He said how about bank statement. We handed him utility bills, our house closing papers. I didn't give him statement because I didn't want him to see that I was working. He didn't remember he had said statement. He was overwhelmed by the house papers and he just smiled and said you're approved. You will get your card in the mail. That was it. I asked if I needed my passport signed, but he said unless I was traveling out immediately and I said no. He ordered the card while we were sitting there.

We asked him if I could change my last name to my husband's and also my address because we are moving to reflect on the new card. He said absolutely. He asked for a name change proof and I gave him the petition I had filed with the court which was not the final document but I think he didn't know either. He just looked at it and gave me back. He changed my last name on the 485 form, and the computer. My husband wrote out our new address on the paper he handed us and he changed that also on the system. We shook hands and headed out.

We get in the car and I checked "your new card is been produced"

I was just screaming...friends God is faithful. I am not sure what you believe, but try him this time. He will come through. Trust him, allow him prove to you that he is God all by himself.

I pray you all arrive to your heart desire very soon.
