Baltimore Interview Experience
Hello,

Please see my interview experience below -

My PD is June 24th 2016. I had my interview for green card on May 24th 2016. My USC spouse and I arrived about an hour early to the immigration office in Baltimore and we were told we were too early and could not sign in prior to 30 mins before our interview. We went to have a sit in the waiting area and 30 mins before our interview we got back in line to sign in. About 30 to 40 mins later (10 mins past our interview time) we heard our name and were called into the interview room. We were sworn in and told that the interview would be recorded (camera was mostly facing me, i doubt my USC spouse was in shot at all). The interview lasted about 45 mins. Interviewer asked who we were to each other, how long we had dated, asked each of us to say our spouses parents names, asked the date of our wedding and who was there, verified my I-94 info which had changed since we submitted our application. I explained that I had traveled out of the country with my H1B after we turned in our application and gave him a copy of my updated I-94 which he appreciated. Interview started out very serious but as we went along the interviewer started to relax and made some jokes. He complimented me on how detailed my application was and was appreciative that I printed out my updated I-94. He asked what joint support we had and I gave him our 401k info with each other as beneficiaries and joint account. He asked for joint taxes, joint mortgage, joint car leases, or joint health insurance ,none of which we had. I explained to him my USC spouse bought the place we live in 5 years prior to our marriage and would be keeping it as his asset. I also explained that we both have insurance through our jobs, bought cars prior to meeting each other and chose not to file taxes together. He kind of gave us a side eye and asked if we had any additional support we wanted to provide. I gave him our photo album with pictures of our court wedding and trips together, itinerary of future trips we plan to take within the next month, both our pay stubs and letters of employment and updated immigration physical. He asked me why I gave him an updated physical since the one I had submitted with my application was valid for about 2 more weeks. I told him I didn't want to take a chance and also I was told I needed to provide a new physical because the requirement for a test for gonorrhea was added after I submitted my application. He asked again if there was anything else and I looked through our docs and said no. Then he proceeded to ask me a bunch of yes/no questions which I answered all no (basically went over the yes/no questions on my 1-485 application). He then said ok please gather your things I am about to make a decision. He gave each of us a piece of paper. I felt confident we were approved but when we got in the card I read the paper he gave us and it said "your case is currently under review". I started to get nervous but my spouse told me not to over think it. About 2 hours later I got a notification email that our case was approved. On 5/30 I got a notification that my GC was mailed and on 6/1 I received my GC,

Hopefully my experience is helpful!
