Los Angeles, CA AOS
Hi All,

I have been reading everyone's experiences and hopefully I can receive some feed back regarding our processing time. I will also do my best to be helpful & answer questions too.
AOS can be a difficult and long process for some cases and we need each others help trust me I relate, I'm understand and I'm here to help.

I am a U.S. Citizen petitioning for my spouse. At first our paperwork seemed to be going smooth and then we re-scheduled.
Our reason for rescheduled is because we hired a lawyer due to a few things that could possibly red flag our case. I am 11 years older than my husband. We were one month shy of being married for 2 yrs before our interview's original scheduled and because of possibilities we wanted to make sure we had a fair chance of our interview and experience. Also, we originally considered this lawyer in particular but decided it would be cheaper to file the paperwork on our own.

Here's our time line:

May 24, 2016 I-130

Sept 7, 2016 I-485 & I-765
Sept 19, 2016 ASC appointment scheduled for Oct, 5, 2016
Oct 25, 2016 Interview Scheduled for Nov, 29, 2016

Nov 25, 2016 Re-Scheduled Interview (Hired a lawyer)

Jan 09, 2017 Decision to Deny Application
Jan 25, 2017 Decision Motion to Re-open Case I-130 & I-485
Feb 08, 2017 AOS Interview

The interview went pretty smooth, the interview was a little intimidating but that was expected.
As long as your marriage is real and you actually pay attention to a few details with your spouse you should do fine.

The officer asked the same questions from the I-485 form along with the following:

How did you meet?
How did he propose?
Have you meet his parents? Has he met your family? How did it go?
How long did you know each other before you decided to get married?
Have you ever been married before?

At the time of our interview my husband's mom was sick & in the hospital. She had been in the hospital almost 2 months before the rescheduling of our interview. We were hoping & praying he would be approved on the spot and would able to go see her, at the very lease get his passport stamped so he could travel.
The officer ended the interview and our lawyer asked if we could get the I-130 or the I-485 approved and the officer said no! Our lawyer asked how long it would take & the officer said 120 days. My husband began to cry and so did I. :(

Our lawyer explained to the officer the issue with his mom's recent hospitalization & suggested using the I-131 travel (but we never filed) my husband was here on an F1 visa and it was expired. He paid his renewal fee two times his money was taken and he was never refunded nor was his visa renewed. So leaving the US is an absolute last resort until this case is complete.

Since, I filled the I-130 last May the only thing I could so is follow up in hopes that they will eventually look into his case. Today is our 110 day since our interview. I followed up with now my 3rd inquiry about the 1-130 and again I was only able to request a follow up. He cannot request an infopass until 120 days. I check status on both cases almost daily with the exception of weekends & holidays.

Has anyone else had any luck with Los Angeles, CA? If so, what was your experience?
Has anyone had to reschedule your appointment?
Has anyone had a similar experience?

I appreciate the read!
