Background :
I have been in US for 5 years for medicine residency and fellowship. Now starting a new job
so have to switch my status from J1 to H1B and my wife's status from J2 to H4. I previously had one J1 visa stamped from Canada. This is a my first H1B visa.

-Arrived at consulate at 7: 45 with my two kids who are US citizens after initial screening I was sent to 20th floor for visa interview.

Q ) What is your educational degree?

Q) Are you staying with same hospital ?

Q) What will be your salary?

At that moment my daughter start crying so she asked my wife to calm her down and did not ask her any questions.

Q)How long have you been married?

Q)Your kids are US citizens?

She gave me worker rights paper. Then keep on typing.

Then she told me everything looks good and issue me 221 g administrative processing white paper. She mentioned to me that we are comfortable but not too comfortable but usually this type of processing completes within in 1-2 weeks.

She kept my passport and I 797.

Next day I received the email with supplemental questions for visa applicants popularly known as DS 5535 . Questions asked

1)Previous passports used
2)Travel history of last 15 years
3)Name of siblings , date of birth
4)Name of childs , date of birth
5)Employments history for 10 years
6)Email address used for last 5 years
7)Name of spouse, date of birth
8)Social media user name or id (no password asked)

They have also mentioned that it take around 10-30 days to process in the email.

Since then it has precisely been 16 working days.

Anyone with similar experience recently.
