Interview:
I got to the location 15 mins early. The security reviewed my interview notice letter and gave me a paper with the name of the IO and some more data. I went thru the security and sat in the waiting area. It was a large hall with about 50 people waiting. I noticed that there were at least 8 IOs that day working out of offices surrounding the central waiting hall.
I was called in about 30 mins. The IO came in, announced my name, and asked me to follow him thru a lobby into his office. I smiled and said hello to the officer and he nodded. He had me take the oath to tell the truth and asked me to sit down. He pulled my file and started going thru it. He spent close to 20 mins just going thru the documents. Many times, he paused, look concerned/confused, jumped to other folders as if trying to clarify something. All this time he didn’t speak a word- it was utter silence and as you can imagine I was getting pretty nervous.
Finally, he spoke to me:

--Where do you currently live?
--What’s your designation at your place of work?
--How long have you been working at your current job?
--Where does your wife work?
--How many bedrooms in your home?
--Who all lives in your home?
--Let me see your current lease
--Let me see your marriage certificate

And then, he went thru the application… the standard questions. He then gave me a piece of paper and asked me to read it: “When do we celebrate Columbus Day?” Once I read it, He gave me another piece of paper and asked me to write “We celebrate Columbus Day in October”. Then I realized this was the reading/writing test. My spellings are very poor and I misspelled “Colombus”. Thankfully that was not an issue. In the civics test he asked these questions:

--When do we celebrate Independence Day?
--Who was president during WW1
--Name one of the longest rivers in the United States
--Why did the pilgrims come to the US?
--Name a state bordering Mexico
--One right that only citizens have?

I answered all the six correctly. Then he gave me another document and asked me to review my info and make sure its correct. Then it was silence again for another 10 mins. Finally, he gave me a paper saying “congratulations”. He said I passed and if his recommendation is accepted, I will be invited to an oath. There was not one single smile in the interview. Zero. All in all, it was about 50 Min interview with most part in spent in silent nervousness. I’m grateful that even though my IO was not the friendliest, he forgave my spelling mistake, and he passed me. Thank you, Mr. IO.

One week later, I received an update saying I’m in line for the Oath ceremony. One more week later, Oath was scheduled and 3 days later I received the letter. My Oath is in about 20 Days. The journey is finally coming to an end. I’m thankful to all members of this community for sharing and guiding. I wish you all the very best of luck.
