Charlotte, NC Interview
We had our interview in Charlotte, NC this morning. Our lawyer went with us. Our appointment was at 7:15 am and we arrived about 7:00 am when the office opens. We checked in and proceeded to the waiting room.

We were called back around 7:40 am by a female officer. She led us back to her office where we were sworn in. She was very serious and hard to read at first. She began with my application (I am a US citizen) for my husband. She just read through to verify that all of my information was correct and asked when we were married.

She then proceeded to go through the I-485 with my husband. She verified his information and then asked all of the yes/no questions. She was warming up a little at this point but still a bit tense.

Our lawyer then handed her all of our joint documents and she flipped through those and asked what bills we pay out of our joint account. My husband and I both explained. We told her that we are planning a big wedding for December this year and she really liked that and asked about it.

Once she put our forms in our file, she asked for the photo album. She went through each page and just glanced. She asked who a few people were and what our dog's name is. She really like that my husband and I have been together for so long before we got married. At this point she even joked around a bit with us and our lawyer.

She then said that was all she needed from us and that she was just going to make copies of my husband's passport and of both of our drivers licenses. Our lawyer asked if she could stamp my husband's passport since we have a trip to go see his family Labor Day. When she returned his passport, there was a green card stamp with an A number that is valid for 60 days. We are so relieved we can travel in a few weeks. Our status has still not updated online but we have the stamp so I am thrilled. Fingers crossed we will get an update and the card very soon!
