DC/NOVA Filer AP Travel / Interview / Card in Production
DC/Northern Virginia Filer - AP Travel / Post Interview / Card in Production

Hi all,

We applied for married based AOS in PD 11/21/16 (aka Day 1). I am the USC.

AP Travel
We went to Europe this summer for a wedding. My husband has the EAD/AP Combo card. We flew back from Dublin. Dublin has a Pre-Clearance Customs check. Basically you do customs before boarding your flight instead of when you land. We were so lucky we got to the airport early. You go through security check and then pre-clearance. Two seperate lines.

Anyhow, we both approached the officer with our passaports. My husband also presented his combo card. He asked us our address in th U.S. He said all was good but my husband needed the stamp for his passport and that was given in the back area. He kept my husbands credentials and walked us over to the other section. There were a hand full of people waiting. The officer passed on the credentials. We were called about 30 minutes later (maybe less). We got the stamp. Went to our gate and boarded our plane. Nothing else when landing.

Interview
We filed in DC. Our interview was day 262. We arrived early, parked in the parking structure right behind the building ($7 0-4 hours). We went to the security check. Then the officer in the reception area said we could go straight to the 2nd floor (no need to check-in at the entrance, just show the officer the letter and he will point you to the elevator). Walked in handed the letter and they stamped it and kept it. Not many people there. Many 3 other cases. There are restrooms in the waiting area.

Our interviewer came for us a couple minutes after our scheduled time. He did not smile much. He walked us over to his office. Gave him passports and EAD card. He made us both take the oath that we are no committing perjury. He then asked my husband all the check off questions. He asked if the AP stamp in my husband's passport also came with a document (No, it didn't). Our interview then was mostly filled with questions about our dating life and him taking notes. Lots of quiet time. We had a long distance relationship for the majority of our dating so he kept asking about visits, who met who, where, how. At some point my huband did some fingerprinting and a photo. At the end he asked for any supporting document we had. I submitted photos (collages on paper), joint federal tax return, beneficiary info, joint bank statements, last pay stubs, and flight tickets of last trip together. He asked I write the info for some of the pics, where and when.

Then he said it was over and we would hear his decision in 2-3 weeks. If he needed anything from us we would receive notice. He then said to check online as that status would chage first.

Finally! Lots of patience.

Good luck all.
