Timeline and Experience NBC - Pittsburgh Field Office
Hello Guys,

There's recently been some movement with my case so I decided to share my timeline. (Long post alert)

I married my college sweetheart after my F1 - OPT expired.
Filed I-485, I-765, I130 and I131 concurrently

PD 6/13/17 NBC
6/19/17 Received email notification case was received
6/22/17 Received receipts in the mail
6/23/17 the next day received Biometrics notice
7/7/17 Biometrics done
No RFE

In some states, you can get a driver's license with just an I-797C. Just check their website for their eligibility requirements.

After they took my fingerprints, My case never changed to "Biometrics done" or "Case is ready for an interview". I was super bored and thank God I read your experiences everyday, because I found out I could request an expedite of my EAD and contact my congressman for help. So I did.

8/3/17 (Day 50) I submitted a request for expedite
8/14/17 Received the request for evidence in the mail which I faxed right away.
8/16/17 Received an email notification my case was completed and they sent a response.

I got worried because it didn't say I met the criteria, so I decided to contact my congressman.
The lady was super nice but I had obviously contacted her too late. She told me the request was already being processed and if she submitted another one it would slow my case. However, she was able to find out my case had already been transferred to the Pittsburgh Field Office. YAY!!

I had already given up on the expedite because I didn't submit a job offer. I just told myself I would send another one, through the congressman this time, as soon as I get the denial notice. Well, no need!

Yesterday, 8/23/2017, I received an email notification my card was in production and the AP was under review. I was so psyched to finally be able to start working again!

As if that wasn't enough, I woke up this morning to an email saying that we were scheduled for an interview at the end of September!! We are so excited but I'm obviously a little nervous as well.

Please wish us luck!

BTW, even though we ended up getting a lawyer because I had overstayed my OPT, I did some extensive research on everything we needed to file. Unless you case is complicated, I honestly do not think you should get a lawyer. I ended up telling them about some forms and documents they needed to send that they didn't tell me about ( like I-130A and a letter explaining why my husband didn't need to file taxes for 2014). If you have any question about the paperwork, literally everything is answered in the instruction, and you can also ask here, as people are very responsive. But even if you do get a lawyer, you still need to do your homework and micro manage them so you don't get any RFEs. They are busy and do not know your case like you do.
I hope this helps someone!
