Philadelphia Interview
So we had our interview yesterday.
We got married in Jan after dating for 5 months . We didn't use any lawyer but learnt a lot from here and other sites.
PD -03/03/2017
04/04 – RFE response delivered
07/14 – EAD received
08/03 – Notice of Interview online
09/07 – Interview (Approved on the spot)
09/07 – Card being produced

Here goes my experience.
We were interviewed by an elderly white man maybe in his early 50’s. The interview started by asking my wife USC the following:
how her family will cope with different religion (shes a muslim & I a Christian) Fortunately, she’s the only deviant in a family of Christian Pastor and deacon
how she will cope with our 18 yr age difference (she says she prefer older men)
when and how we met.
Then to me
If I’ve ever been married or have any kids. I do have a kid who is a US citizen and that was declared in my forms.
He then asked if my wife had met my son & her mum, and she said yes that she was in the US briefly and visited us. He asked for and checked her name on the system.
After that he apologized for keeping us waiting for 45 mins and said we are the only ones who were prepared & organized so far. He asked if we had a lawyer prepare our filling and we responded no. after that the discussion became interactive and he mentioned what he observed in all the pictures filled earlier especially my relationship with my 6 year old step daughter. He gave us advise on how to better manage her as she looks a handful because he has a daughter in same age bracket. He handed me a paper where he wrote i-751 go and become familiar with this.
He took my finger prints, then yes/no questions followed.
He was surprised we had additional documents (peco bill, comcast, car insurance on both cars, denied life insurance letter, receipts for furniture & beds, TV, computers, 6 months statement of 2 joint accounts, album with 110 pictures. He took the documents and we insisted he takes pictures of my Dad when he visited us from Africa, and pictures with her parents and both grandparents. He congratulated and thanked us again for being so thorough and detailed. My wife explained all the research i did and how i dedicated a whole room to sort out documentation for weeks before submission.
He then said you’re approved, expect your green card in 2 weeks. He also volunteered how best to remove conditions from the 2 year green card.
I must say though that a lot of couples were separated and the waiting room atmosphere tense. The criteria used for separation is not known to me.
I will suggest that you prepare well as you only have one opportunity to make an impression. Practice as many questions as possible, go with loads of documentation and pictures, but above all BE PRAYERFUL.
May the GOD that did mine do yours also.
Thanks everyone and I pray yours comes next.
