Delaware resident and Philadelphia Field Office
I do appreciate everyone on this forum whom I have read their posts or contributions, they have all prepared me thus far. However, I realize state of Delaware folks have not posted experiences here and I want to believe my experience can help others most especially Delaware residents.
TIMELINE (My wife and I)
- 04/03/17: N-400 Fedex to Dallas Texas
- 04/05/17: Application Received
- 04/05/17: Priority Date
- 04/17/17: Notice of acceptance Received in mail
- 04/18/17: Biometrics schedule (Dover support office)
- 05/05/17: Biometrics Complete
- 05/09/17: Case in Line for Interview
- 08/03/17: Interview was scheduled
-09/08/17: Interview Date (Philadelphia field office)
-09/15/17: Oath Ceremony

We both filled N-400 which is NBC based and 6 years 4 months green card holder. We have 2 kids, one born overseas and we were processed at the same time all through as shown in the timeline.

 INTERVIEW

Both interviews were slated for 10:35 am, we arrived 30 min earlier and checked in to different IO’s. I was called in exactly 10:15am (Please be aware that you could be called once you are checked in especially if it’s not a busy day.
My IO asked for my driver’s license, appointment letter and passports to check corresponding travel overseas. I took the civic test as below

1. What are the two parts of the US congress
2. Who is the commander in Chief of the military
3. What are the two major political party in the US
4. There are thirteen original states,; name 3
5. Who wrote the declaration of independence ( I missed it)
6. Name one war fought by the US in the 1800s
7. Name one state that borders Mexico

After that was oral and written tests. She asked me to stand up to swear to tell the truth and went through my N-400 form thoroughly.
She congratulated me and asked where I would like to take my oath with options of October in Wilmington Delaware or September 15 right there in Philadelphia field office and quickly opted for September 15th which is a week later ( worthy of note: Delaware Sate folks can take oath in Philadelphia). My IO asked me to wait at the lobby to collect my oath ceremony appointment.

My wife was not called until 10:35 am hence, I was able to share my experience with her. Her IO told her he could see I was scheduled for oath and if she would like the same time and date which she affirm to positively and also got her oath ceremony appointment letter.

USCIS office has parking for $12 which is cheaper than every other parking around in University of Pennsylvania.

I wish everyone in this naturalization journey all the best.
