Adjustment of Status - I-485

I-485 & I-765
I submitted on early july 2017 I-485, I-130 & I-131 based on marriage.
I got request of evidence on mid aug, which I delivered right away.
Now the status on the website is "Response To USCIS' Request For Evidence Was Received" since aug. The request was for form 130a.
I just got the advance parole approved (oct 18).
I never submitted I-765.
My visa (O1-B) will expire on mid Dec.
From what I am reading, I should submit it, and since I payed filing fee for I-485 I don't need to pay the fee for I-765.
Thoughts?
