Oakland Park Florida citizenship experience
Ok folks, it is time for me to leave this forum !!

I would like to thank everybody here for posting their experiences, and in doing so, helping people like me go through the whole process with a little less anxiety.

Ok ....... after filling up the N400 form by myself I mailed it in November 2016

They received it on November 21th 2016 so it became my PD (priority date) and my case was processed in Oakland Park field office in Florida

Around mid December 2016 I got a letter with the appointment for biometrics scheduled for December 29th 2016.

On January 4Th 2017 my status online was changed to " in line for enterview".
Than the long wait started. I waited and waited and waited checking pretty much every day at the website without seeing any change. Thats where this forum helped me because after reading about people here wainting up to 10 months for the interview I got a little more calm with the process.

It was only in the 28th of August 2017 that my status changed online saying that my interview was scheduled.

October 10th 2017 I got the letter in the mail with the date for the interview which was October 3 2017 10:30 AM.

After studying a lot I passed the test with no problems. The immigration officer was very friendly and didn't give me any troubles.

Now the last phase was to wait for the oath schedule.

Since I changed my name, instead of having my oath ceremony at the immigration facility, I had to have it done at the closest federal courthouse.

The letter with the oath date arrived on October 15th with the oath scheduled for October 20Th 11:30 AM.

The ceremony was beautiful in a huge courthouse with a real federal judge etc. By 2:30 PM we were done.

So my journey came to a happy end, and I am an American citizen now !!!

It took 11 months for the whole process with 7 months just waiting for the interview date.

My wife's citizenship took less than 6 months in the same fiels office so go figure.

Again thanks to everybody who posted their experiences here and helped me cope with the long wait.

God bless you all !!!
