Hi all, I'd like to share my interview experience filing for AOS based on marriage. PD Feb 2, 2017
My appointment was super early at 7:30 AM. So I was there around 7.
They're very on time. We got called around 7:25 and walked into the interview room.
The interviewer was very friendly and polite. He first asked us to swear to tell only the truth.
We were asked to present some ID. My husband got Cal ID card and for me were the EAD and passport.
Then started by having us verify our first name, last name, street address and information on the application. The followed questions to both of us were
- He looked at my passport and asked to confirm the date I entered the US.
- What's your hasband/wife date of birth?
- How many times have you been married?
- Do you have any children? /How many?
- My husband's job
- My previous job
- How did we meet?
- Ask if we have any joint bank statement, health insurance, lease agreement
The conversation was pretty casual to me and went very well.
He also asked us to present original birth certificate, my husband's naturalization paper. But I only brought copies. I was quite concered at first but at the end he said he'll go ahead and approve the application. I was so relieved. Then he also ask for the AP papers (2 of them) so he can void them since there'll be no need after I got the green card.
I hope this will help those who're waiting for the interview. My advice is to stay relax and be yourself if all your documents are prepared then you'll have nothing to worry about and of course you already know by heart the answer to all whatever the question they're going to ask.
