Marriage-based green card interview
We wanted to share our experience on this forum

For privacy reasons, will not list specific dates or specific locations of interview, but this was in the state of Ohio.

- PD December 12th 2016, I485 and I130 concurrent filing for marriage-based green card application
- Biometrics Jan 2017
- EAD received March 2017
- Tried InfoPass and SR inquiry in July and August 2017, no responses to both [officer at InfoPass was not very helpful, so I wouldn't recommend this unless you truly are desperate to "do something", not very useful in my opinion, he just told us to keep waiting, was sort of a waste of time]
- September 2017 - Finally received response from USCIS NBC to our online SR inquiry made in July (yes, it took 2-3 months), stating for us to keep waiting (due to delays unrelated to our case...etc.)
- October 2017 - received interview notice, finally, 3-week notice
- End of October 2017 - We had our interview at our field office. The interview took about 20 minutes. We had to recite an oath to say the truth and we were both recorded throughout the entire interview. Questions revolved around how we met, personal biographic information about each other, who was at the wedding, etc. details about our living situation, and our relationship. We were told right at the interview location that we would be recommended for approval and to check online for USCIS case status changes. The IO was very quick and efficient.
- 3 days later, we saw our online status change to "Case was approved."
- 5 days later, received official I797s of approval in the mail for each application
Currently awaiting to receive green card, was told it would take an additional 3 weeks.

Total length of journey = 11 months

Thanks to this forum for your help along the way.
It has been a really long journey, although I know others have had longer journeys with more obstacles and are still waiting for their good news...Bless you all
Good luck to everyone on this forum....
