Interview at Washington field office
Hi everyone ,
Here is my interview experience. Pd is 12/21/2016. Interview was on 10/25, arrived at 8:45, attorney checked us in, was called in less than 5 minutes after sitting down. My attorney said it was a new record!
I think interview went well but at the end officer said it was being held for review. Our attorney did indicate that they are not adjudicating cases now like they used to. She says that normally they are being held for review so we were not expecting a response on that date which sucks because we have already been waiting for some long.
Interview went well, officer was very detailed, we were sworn in, she took my photo and fingerprints,
went through I130 and 1485 completely, asked how we met, asked parents names, where we got married, how was the wedding. She went through the forms completely. We were in there for approximately 45 minutes. Officer seemed a little disorganized and inexperienced. My attorney kept reminding her of all the docs we had already submitted. She kept repeating some of the questions, not sure if she was trying to trick us or just not paying attention. She was making notes and checking off information as she reviewed it. I was very familiar with the forms as I work in the legal field. I feel that if your marriage is real all will be fine. My husband and I have been married for almost 7 years and together for almost 10 so I’d say we know each other pretty well. She did mention that our Affidavit of Support was already approved and the National Benefits Center. We submitted current taxes, new lease, bank statements and a few photos. She made copies of my husband’s birth certificate, that was already submitted in the original packet but she asked to see the original. Thankfully we had it, she made copies of all my passports, old and current. I arrived with a B1/B2 when I was 12 years old so had all my information including my I-94. Traveled on advanced parole when I was 17 since I have TPS and she asked to see that information which was just a stamp in my previous passport.
All in all everything went well, she said case will be held for review because her supervisor has to check everything, she did say that she did not anticipate them needing anything else from us or that we would be called for another interview. She said to expect an answer with 3-4 weeks. Also asked they yes and no questions at the end.
At the end she just asked how we were going to celebrate being done with the interview and we said by having lunch with my husband’s parents. She wished us well and we thanked her for her time and for working on our case.
My husband and I felt very confident and attorney said the case being held for review is just a formality and that we should get approval letters soon.

Please let me know if you all have questions, relax and share your experience with me. Remember every case is different and just be yourself.

Thanks for reading my experience!
