Applied OCI for my Daughter on Oct 2nd, 2017. Received OCI Card on Nov 1st,2017. Process went smooth, No problems. Took 1 month exactly from mailing application to receiving my OCI card.
My recommendation is to follow every step in detail & fill it and send all required docs, photo.
I have to say, ckgs website is excellent and the information to redirect the India Gov site and back to ckgs is extremely good, just need minimum knowledge on websites, form filling..etc

Oct 30, 2017 - OCI Card ‘Received’ at the CKGS application centre and is at the ‘Sorting Facility’ where it is being processed for delivery.
Oct 30, 2017 - Application 'Reviewed' by Consulate and ‘In Transit’ to CKGS Application Centre.
Oct 10, 2017 - US Passport received.
Oct 09, 2017 - Passport dispatched through FedEx.
Oct 06, 2017 - Original Passport ‘Received’ at the CKGS application centre and is at the ‘Sorting Facility’ where it is being processed for delivery.
Oct 06, 2017 - Passport 'Reviewed' by Consulate and is ‘In Transit’ to CKGS Application Centre.
Oct 06, 2017 - Application is 'Under Process' at Consulate for decision making.
Oct 05, 2017 - Application is 'In Transit' to the Consulate.
Oct 04, 2017 - Application Verification is ‘Complete’. Processing of your application will continue.
Oct 04, 2017 - Application ‘Received’ by CKGS and 'Not Verified'.
