Contact your Congressman!
If your case is taking longer than usual, I would encourage everyone to contact their congressman ASAP! We filed on May 1st (due to marriage to a US Citizen), biometrics completed on May 31st and its been radio silent since June. I kept following up with USCIS and they said to continue waiting for a notification.
In September, I read on this blog about applicants contacting their congressman, so in September I sent a signed form that was on the Congressman's website but I still didn't receive a response.
In late October I sent an email directly to the congressman, and someone from their office got back to me, asked me to sign a document stating they could speak to USCIS about my case.
Last week I received an email from the congressman's office stating I was in queue at the field office for an appointment, but they would follow up to see if they could get an exact timeline.
Today, I received an email from the congressman's office with a letter dated yesterday and details of my interview date 1 month from TODAY! :) I checked my online USCIS account and there is no update there and I haven't received a text message either but honestly, I think this is the only reason why I've heard back so quickly!
This is for the Santa Ana Field Office, and based on my conversation with USCIS they are working on December 2016 I-485 applications so this really helped expedite.
