H1B Extension Ottawa Nov 2017
Lot of people shared good experience, so I am adding few things. My H1B and my wife's H4 visa got approved recently in Ottawa. My case was simple - I am working for reputed US firm for last many years and this is my my 5/6 visa interview. I also have two master's degrees in US. My kids are born in US and were with us during interview. I drove to Ottawa.

Border crossing into Canada was easy. It was weekend. No checks on US side. On Canada side, we just stayed in car. Officer asked couple of questions - we were done in 2 minutes.

Ottawa interview: Process before interview is again same as previously described in recent posts. Few important points: First - please take your most recent photos (taken in last one/two months) - We both had to take new photos in Ottawa and submit those back at 2 PM on the same day of interview (after interview). There is a pharmacy in Rideau Centre - 5 min walk.
Second, I got email from embassy in Ottawa one day prior to interview date that they were unable to pull my DS 160 and asked me to submit new DS 160. I submitted new two DS 160. But it was fine and they were able to pull new DS 160 and leveraged those for interview - but please note that for tracking my passport I still had to use old DS 160 numbers. So to avoid this please submit DS 160 before you take appointments.
Actual interview for me was very simple: what is your highest education and what is your role.

Some other interviews: I ended up noticing other interviews. There were two officers interviewing. Both were asking lot of questions and were asking for lot of documents. I could clearly hear - they were knowledgeable in overall technology jobs. One desi (with all due respect as I am one) got visa approved after lot of questions and one got 221 form asking to submit more documents and he was clearly instructed that the process will take 4 to 6 weeks - I think that person was working as a contractor at client site.

Border crossing into US: It was weekend. No checks on Canada side. On US side, Officer will ask you to go inside and then officer inside (like on airport) will take finger prints, photo and issue I94 for $6 each (US dollars - cash only).

Appointments: Appointments at all locations opens up once a month - for example November/December appointments at Ottawa opened up on all days in last week on October. So keep looking almost everyday many times. After you cancel/reschedule appointment, the spot to you gave up only opens up after about 12/24 hours after.

I provided all information that I can that is not already available on this forum. So please read through all posts.
