In Queue for "followup interview"
Queens, NY (operating out of Federal Plaza)
PD: 8/9/2016
Interview Notice: 5/31/2017
Interview: 7/13/2017
SR: 11/20/2017 - in queue for follow-up interview

Hello all,

My wife and I (USC) had our first interview back in July at Federal Plaza.

Greeted ISO when I first saw her. She half-heartedly said hi and then looked down. She was quite cold throughout the interview…not sure what was going on there but it was unpleasant.

Asked for documents first. Had everything except my passport and divorce certificate. Provided my State ID and divorce certificate was provided in initial packet. She asked a second time for my passport later in the interview

Started by asking me about how we met. Who got the phone #. Where we "hang out”. We handled those questions fine. I got tripped up on our wedding date (courthouse), said April 2016 (I didn’t remember the exact date).

Then questioned wife. Asked about my birthday, family. Father’s name, job. Asked why I don’t talk to my mom and wife said she didn’t know. Asked when my dad came to visit last and wife was hesitant on answer, said last month. It was actually 2 months prior.

Then asked me about her. Asked if I went to Japan. We gave her our flight itinerary. She quizzed me on who was who of our pics with her family in Japan. Everything was ok there.

Looked at my taxes asked me a couple questions. Asked for joint documents and I told her we don't commingle. Then asked for utility bills, nope.

Handed us form saying case is pending no other info.

Attorney did a service request and it says we’re in queue for a “follow-up interview.” Attorney says they could just ask for updated medical/taxes or it could be stokes. I’m assuming it’s a stokes interview based on the ISO’s demeanor from the first interview and this being my 2nd time sponsoring my wife. Any perspective? Attorney also says that if it is stokes, they usually make you wait a year, true?

If it is stokes, we will prepare very carefully for it. I’m running a business and my wife is working pretty long hours, so it’s pretty easy for the details to escape because we are both so consumed with our jobs. I can barely remember what happened last week, ha. But being as this is the last chance, it is so extremely important that we ace it.
