AOS interview 2/23 in Sacramento, CA
Timeline:
5/25/17: PD
6/22/17: Biometrics
9/16/17: Received EAD card
1/18/18: Received notice for interview on 2/23/18
2/23/18: Interview (approved - card in production)

We had our interview today in the Sacramento, CA field office. We arrived 40 minutes earlier, but was not called in until 20 minutes or so past our appointment time. The IO was pretty serious looking at first, but lightened up throughout the interview, and even joked that he should be our friends when looking at photos of all of our trips. He asked us our basic information (name, birthday, address, phone number), and asked my husband (applicant) the YES/NO questions on the AOS form. He asked for what evidence of marriage we brought, so I provided him with all of the following:

- 2017 joint tax returns
- lease w/ both names
- joint bank account
- auto insurance
- cell phone account
- health insurance
- pension and IRA documents showing my husband is the beneficiary
* I also had travel confirmation for numerous trips, but the IO didn't want this

He kept all of the evidence that I provided. He didn't ask to see original birth certificates or my more recent pay stubs.

He asked us about how we met and our whole timeline, which I told him. We went through the photo album I brought in, which documented our whole relationship from day 1 to last weekend, which also included photos of our wedding and honeymoon. He asked to keep some photos. The interview lasted for about 30 minutes. I (USC) spoke mostly since my husband is not fluent in English. The IO did not seem to mind that at all.

In the end, he said that he wanted to just review some of the documents and photos that he collected, but that he was pretty sure he would be approving us and that we would be receiving notice of approval next week, and assured that we did not have anything to worry about. I was a little disappointed that we did not get on the spot approval, but 45 minutes after the interview, I got notification that the card was in production, so I guess he approved the case sooner than expected. Now we're just going to wait for the green card.

Nothing in the interview was difficult, and I felt very comfortable answering the questions. I do believe being prepared with an organized binder of documents (I even had a copy of the EAD card, so when the IO got up to make a copy I told him that he didn't have to because I had one ready for him) and a photo album of photos (I put my in chronological order and we flipped through all the pages and explained the photos) really helped the IO in easily approving the case.

All said, our case took about 9 months. Thanks to everyone in this forum for all the information provided and good luck to everyone.
