Just want to share my experience. My GC was through marriage, my wife is US citizen.
After I got the notice for interview, my attorney thought that there was something wrong with my case and that’s the reason they scheduled it so early. My case status always showed me a “User defined” error for I485 and I765, I was not able to track my cases. I130 is still showing “Case was received” so do not panic if your case is showing wrong status.
Interview was straightforward, we started building a house in December and we sent the purchase contracts and loan approvals as proof. The interviewer first question even before the recording started was if we moved into our new house, we told that we did on March 30th. He explained the interview process and told us that it’s recorded. He started asking the typical YES NO questions from I485 and then he asked my wife the questions from I130. He then asked how we met and how we like our new house and the area. I gave him the copies of joint car, health insurance and bank statement. He asked if we have any photos of our vacations, we gave him our album. He returned the album and kept other copies. At the end of the interview, he told that if approved this will be a conditional GC for two years and I have to apply 90 days before the expiration to remove the conditions. He mentioned that he would go through the application once again and approve if he do not see any issues.
Yesterday I received the approvals for both I130 and I485 in mail. I have no idea what happened to my I765, I did not received anything for it except the receipt notice and it’s showing error when search it in my case status. I do not think I need it any more since my 485 approved.
The whole process took 3.5 months from the day we mailed the package.
