Our timeline - sharing AOS experience
Hi all,

Wanted to come on here and share our green card through marriage experience and timeline.

Here is our story, hope it helps some of you!
I came to the US on a B1 visa from Canada in July 2016 as a medical student to do my clinical/hospital rotations for two years, I met my now husband in Jan 2017, we moved in together after 6 months and got engaged shortly thereafter. We got married Jan 3rd, 2018 (on our one year anniversary in a civil ceremony, no family present) and filed our paperwork a month later Feb 12, 2018. From beginning to end our immigration process took 3 1/2 months, we filed in Chicago. We did all the paperwork ourselves, I did my medical beforehand and sent everything together, we did not hire any lawyers. Our timeline is as follows:

Married - Jan 3
Sent in application - Feb 12
Receipt notice - Feb 22
Biometrics - March 16
Interview Notice - April 26
Interview Date- May 24
Status update - We're producing your card! - May 26

We had no RFEs. Our interview was in the Chicago office and lasted about 15 minutes total, and it was pretty straight forward. I came organized with all the necessary paperwork, photocopies of all documents as well as the originals. We brought a lot of pictures and financial documents showing entanglement of finances, joint lease, bills, credit cards, bank statements, etc.

Our advice, read and follow all the instructions in the forms, it is lengthy and time consuming but it is worth the effort in the beginning to do exactly as they have instructed.

In anyone has any questions, feel free to ask!
Good Luck to everyone going through this process!!
