The journey so far on EAD
This is quite a story, but i know it will touch and help someone out.

Filed i-485,765(NBC), 130(LIN) simultaneously. All document was sent to NBC.

No update since then aside from bio fee received for i485 on 02/21/2018 cases received for the rest.

April 13, I decided to call USCIS to expedite my i765 due to emergency/hardship situation which I believe I met the criteria and could back it up with supporting document. A week after I didn’t hear from them, I called back and was told uscis sent me an email on steps to take(telling my story, stating how I met the criteria to expedite and other supporting document to be sent to them) but unfortunately, I didn’t receive any email from them, even checking my junk mail but the uscis rep gave me the details of the mail and gave me their fax number to send those requested document to. I did send the fax but wouldn’t know if my fax was received or not, so I called back again after a week and was told that they can’t verify for me, that I just have to wait 30days to hear from them. My gut told me nothing is gonna be done on it.

April 27, I contacted ombudsman’s office via phone call, explaining my situation and steps I took earlier with uscis which was futile. I was sent a form(DHS-7001) to fill and send them back a confirmation number which I did with my request letter, and all supporting document, even fax all document to them as well. I called back a couple of times but realized the man I kept talking to always speak from his bed laying down and kept telling me he will assign someone to check the mail so that it can be looked into…I was devastated, the I chose to pursue congressman’s office.
May 07, I contacted congressman’s office on phone, the woman was really wonderful, she gave me the criterion on all expediting categories which I already knew where I fall into, then immediately she forwarded two forms to fill( privacy release form and expediting request form}. I immediately filled the forms, signed and sent back and she forwarded the forms with my request letter addressed to the congressman’s office to USCIS office for further inquiry.
May 14, USCIS replied congressman’s office stating that “their review indicates that this case is within USCIS’s current processing time…..All expedite request are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. It is the burden of the applicant or petitioner to demonstrate that one or more of the expedite criteria have been met. Please provide additional information/documentation regarding the basis for the expedite request. PLEASE ALSO NOTE THAT A SINGLE LETTER FROM THE APPLICANT, WITHOUT ADDITIONAL SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION, DOES NOT GENERALLY MEET THE CRITERIA FOR EXPEDITED PROCESSING” Then I forwarded all supporting document to the congressman’s office which was also forwarded to uscis’s office that same day from congressman’s office.

May 21, USCIS replied congressman’s office stating “Thank you for the inquiry. I have requested your constituent’s file for review and will provide an update as soon as possible”

May 24, my uscis’s online account alerted me via text and email that an action has been taken on my case and logged in to check, saw that “We are producing your card and will mail it to you” which the app never blinked an eye still.

May 25, my uscis’s online account alerted me also, that “We approved your case”

May 30, now the uscis app now alerted me and updated that “we mailed your new card for form i765” which the online account didn’t update anything since the approval notice

May 31, the uscis app also alerted me and updated that “ The post office picked up mail containing your new card and a tracking number was assigned” with usps.
Card will be delivered on Saturday.
