Marriage-based GC interview-Approved on the spot
Hello everyone.

PD: 2/12/18
Bio: 3/17/18
Interview: 5/29/18
Approved on the spot.
5/31/18 we mailed your card.

I'm one of those that got lucky with the system glitch that sent out employment-based interview notices for marriage-based applicants.

We had our interview three days ago at federal plaza, NYC and were approved on the spot.

We brought TONS of documents but the officer didn’t want to look at any of the documents. He said we had sent enough evidence when we first filed for AOS. He wanted to see pictures and we casually started having conversations about different topics as he was viewing our photo album. He wanted to keep 2 pictures from the photo album of 200 photos.

Our interview was at 8:15 am but we didn’t get called in until 10:15 am. The first thing he asked was what do we do for living. He then asked my husband (USC) about our address, his date of birth. He asked me what my date of birth is. He asked me when did I finish my masters degree and I couldn’t remember the year and said may 2016. My husband corrected me on the spot and we all laughed. He asked us if either of us have been previously married. My husband said he was and the officer asked his ex-spouse’s name and when did they get divorced.

He only wanted to see our passports and ID’s in the beginning. From the moment I received the interview notice, I prayed for a fair and nice officer and we got one.

My advice to all of you is to be yourselves. I’m not saying don’t be nervous because you will be!!

Another advice is that show the officer that you spent time on gathering your documents and you actually care. Our binder had millions of page tabs and we knew which document was where. We were more than prepared if the officer wanted to look at any.

If your marriage is Bonafide there is nothing you guys should fear. If you wanna relieve some stress just quiz each other on questions posted online just to be on the same page. But believe me you can’t fake a bona fide marriage and the officer will know right away that it’s not real. Be friendly and go there with a positive attitude.

Let me know if you have any questions. Good luck!!
