Expedited visa interview appointment?

Can anyone please advise on the best way to request for an expedited visa interview at the US Consulate in Calgary? We tried calling the number listed on their website, but the call drops off after a few minutes into the automated system. We have sent an email to the registered ID on their website. However, we wish to know if anyone has had an experience to share with regards to such requests. We are kind of in a dire situation. Also, why are the appointment wait times on https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/wait-times.html# so misleading? It says "17 days" for Calgary, but in reality we were given a date four months out (in October)!
