Interview NYC Federal Plaza
BACKGROUND = We have been married for 1 year and a half. I was under an F1 visa.

We just got out of the interview and it was a very positive experience.
06//2017 = Submit documentation
07/2017 = RFE Received
07/2017 = Biometrics taken
10/2017 = EAD Card received
05/2018 = Request for interview
Today = Interview

Interview:
We prepared different folders 1) Joint Additional evidence 2) His additional evidence (recently changed his job) 3) My additional evidence 4) Our initial application 5) Medical exams retaken (MUST DO)

Joint Additional Evidence
- Mortgage documents
- Pictures
- Life insurance
- Tax returns
- Medical Insurance
- Cat adoption documents :)
- Letters from friends and family saying they know us, we love each other and we have plans together
- All our tickets supporting our pictures
- Car Lease
- Marriage license
- Cable bills (under both names)
- Joint Bank statements

Questions:
The immigration officer was really nice and make us feel comfortable. The questions were pretty easy:
- How did you meet? He answered correctly.
- Where did she study? He got very nervous. Answered correctly
- What did she study? He couldn't answer - We got into a small discussion because he knows the answer but he was just so nervous. The officer kind of laughed.
- When did we move to the new apartment? He provided a different month. I corrected him. Again the officer laugh.
- Is YYYY neighborhood near your new house? He couldn't answer. At that point, the officer and I laugh and I told him: BABY IS FINE! and he calmed down.
- Where do you do the groceries? He answered correctly. And the officer compared it with our bank statements.
- How many cable boxes do we have? This was the only question directed towards me.
- He took some pictures and asked us to describe everyone on the picture.

Outcome:
He told us that we will receive a response by mail. I told him we were planning on traveling (just to know if we were or not approved) and he said, sure, the card should be there soon! He also told us the importance of being OVERPREPARED!

We were extremely happy!

Advice:
- Its natural to get nervous. My husband and I are inseparable and spend 24/7 together and somehow he forgot almost every answer. I was confident of our marriage and that the officer will notice. Stick to the truth and support each other is a long path, and it is always worth it.

- Submit all documents. Even if it is a lot. It is better to be overprepared.
