Can a case be paused?
My i-485 was received march 8 2017
Biometrics appt April 2017, then August 2017, case changed to ready to be scheduled for interview and my EAD was mailed that same day. Then radio silence until June 2018. I accidentally put in the wrong password on my USCIS login and got myself locked out, so I put in a request to unlock it. They called me June 7 2018 to unlock my account. When she was asking me questions, she said "hmm that's odd", which I thought was because they had my former address on file, but not my current address, even though I changed my address about a month after I filed and received mail from them (including confirmation of address change and my EAD) at my current address. Anyway, a week later on June 14, I received a notification that my case status has been updated, my interview was finally scheduled. Now I have received an email every 2 weeks, letting me know that they are still reviewing my case and that there are no further updates. Why all of a sudden am I getting these emails, when I never got them before? Is it possible that my case was put on hold or slipped through the cracks or something? For reference, I have seen posts from several people who's application is through the same field office and are also family based green card, who applied AFTER my case was "ready to be scheduled for interview" and have already completed the entire process. What gives?
