EAD Approved with Expedite Request
Hi All:

Finally on July 20th my EAD went into production, approved after 113 days of processing, I submitted an expedite request.

PD for I-486, I-765: March 30th 2018. Filed I-130 in February. Category C9.

05/08/18: Biometric appointment.

05/09/18: Fingerprints review completed. Ready to schedule interview.

05/14/18: Expedite Request. Letter for evidence received 4 days later.

May- July: Recieved first letter from previous employer (who i had to leave after my F1 EAD had expired). Attempting to fax letter for the couple of weeks,
I tired different fax machines that all work to other numbers expect to USCIS. Spoke to over 4 USCIS officers whose only input was to "try again" as it is a known issue. Faxed to another number I found on another forum that was for another department in the USCIS. On 08/17 mailed my latter to USCIS. Everytime I called USCIS I would ask when my case had last been handled up until July 15th it was June 28th. I called on 07/20 under the pretense that I wanted to know if my evidence had been received, I was told that my case was now with an officer and had been updated on July 13th. Of course they don’t tell you the type of “update”

08/20: Received notification from the USCIS app that my EAD has gone into production. Later that day it was changed to my I-765 application had been approved. Best news so far. I think my expedite request was responsible for the “faster” turnover, however I can not tell you which method finally got my evidence to an officer. I never received ever a successful transmission for the fax number given. I doubt was the letter I mailed as it would of taken at least two days to arrive and I was approved free days after sending. Whilst the other fax number worked in unsure if it was re-routed to the correct department, but on 07/28 my case was updated and that was the day I send the fax to the other number which was successful.

My expedite request was put through by an officer who told me I did not “seem” I met the requirements but did it anyway. I send a letter from my employer stating an intended start date (July 26th), a one page job description and one paragraph letter stating my financial need, and my attachment to this job as it was my previous role I did not send any bills etc as I think it’s just up to them and I didn’t have anything to show.

Overall the wait my maddening mainly because of the lack of updates and process flaws. I recommend to stay persistent as it would keep them on their toes and mostly importantly always ask officers when your case was handled or if it is with an officer, as this information is not necessary updated on the site. I signed up for alerts via text and email but did not receive anything, so the app seems to be better.

Sorry for the essay but I hope that it will help someone.
