The journey is over! (Queens Filer)
My husband (beneficiary) and I’s journey has come to a positive conclusion. He will be receiving his green card in a matter of days. I know this because I received a text message stating that his I 485 case was updated at 6:34 pm yesterday afternoon. This is about five hours after our interview was completed yesterday.

PD: 7/20/17
Ready to be scheduled: 8/31/18
EAD/AP: 10/17/17
Interview notice: 6/23/18
Interview date: 7/26/18

We arrived at Federal Plaza at 10:30 and was seated in the waiting room at 10:45 at our assigned room on the fourth floor. Our interview was scheduled at 11:00 am but was not called to be seen until 12:40 pm. By this time my anxiety level was pretty high. We were finally called in and took an oath to tell the truth. Initially my husband was asked questions about his prior entries and departures in and out of the United States when he was younger. We believe she was trying to see if he would slip up and fabricate information. He did great! The officer asked me directly how we met and when things got serious. Also when we decided to move in together. She proceeded to ask him questions regarding the actual submitted forms. After that she asked him who does the cooking (which is him) and we joked about my not so fantastic cooking skills. Once again she went over questions from the submitted forms, mostly yes or no responses were needed. At the end, she gave us the notice stating that the case is being held for review. I was a little disappointed and assumed that we made a mistake. Later on I received the update and almost cried tears of joy.

I think what really helped out case is the evidence we had supporting our relationship. We actually have our larger wedding planning in October of this year in Jamaica. The officer was quite surprised that we were planning a wedding outside of the country without him having a green card in his possession. Side note: he overstayed so we did not want you to take the chance of traveling on advance parole.

I really want to thank this forum for the tremendous insight and support. I wish everyone here the best of luck.
