After Interview Waiting II - tips to renew DL with EAD auto extension
I did my interview on July 24 and until now total silence. Did an infopass after 1 month because the IO told me "Congrats, you can expect your GC in 2-3 weeks" at the end of interview. But at the infopass the person told me that this IO is known to hold the case for a while after the interview so I have to wait. I said then why would she said that at the end of interview and the person cannot answer it. So my EAD is about to expire in few weeks. I have to extend my DL with my 180 auto extention. This is the hard part cause I see alot of people got denied on renewal just because DMV doesnt recognize it as a qualified document. So I scheduled appointment at 2 local DMVs and prepared for a hard day. As expected, at the 1st DMV I got denied even though I explained everything to the supervisor for 1 hour. The supervisor tried to call USCIS to confirm this auto extension thing but you know they don’t pick up the phone so she said she cant wait on the phone for 1 hour just for my case. So I gave up and went to another DMV the same afternoon. And luckily the supervisor at that DMV is young and familiar with the extension so he did the renewal of my DL. I know some people have the same issue like me, and my suggestion is try different DMV and talk to supervisor only cause the people at the window don’t know what they are saying.
