Interview Tips - My Experience
Being Nervous is normal. But preparation is key. File your documents neatly . Originals in one file , supporting documents in another file. You can label them if you wish.
Prepare your answers to possible questions. ( my lawyer gave us 100 possible questions to prepare) and none were asked . But still prepare .
We thought the IO was going to asked “ questions about the apartments - like color of the carpet etc , ) was surprised he didn’t. But we prepared those answers Incase we got separated.
Make sure you and your husband are on the same page with answers.
Keep answers short and straight to the point as asked . Don’t say too much else you give them intention to dig deep and ask crazy questions.
Maintain eye contact with IO.
When a question is asked to your spouse - don’t speak . Let your spouse answer alone, and vice verse.
Smile anytime your IO says something funny. Or relates with your story. Lol it relaxes you.
Don’t look at your partner while answering questions.
Don’t say you came into the country to get married . ( I dated my hubs for a year and half - long distance relationship)
Say you came for visit and then your husband asked you to stay ( my lawyer told us this) even if you know you came in to marry him (which was my case) .
You always have to stick with what you said at the airport ( purpose of visit )
Say you didn’t see the proposal coming. You were surprised as hell!
Dress professional. My husband and I both wore a suit.
Minimal makeup.
